At d-teach online school, we respect your privacy and handle your personal data with care.

When you visit the AI for Education Awards 2026 website or submit an initiative, we may collect personal data such as your name, contact details, organisation, and submission materials, including your recorded video pitch. We use this information to manage the competition, evaluate submissions, communicate with participants, and, where relevant, publish information about selected finalists and laureates.

The AI for Education Awards 2026 are organised by d-teach online school ivzw, Hamoirlaan 12, box A05, 1180 Ukkel, Belgium, which acts as the data controller.

We process personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable data protection legislation. Depending on the purpose, processing is based on the administration of your participation, our legitimate interest in organising and communicating the Awards, your consent (where applicable), or our legal obligations.

For the Student Innovation Award, submissions are made by a supervising teacher. The teacher confirms that parental or legal guardian consent has been obtained where required and that participation complies with applicable data protection rules.

Your data may be shared with trusted partners involved in the organisation, evaluation and communication of the Awards, including members of the international jury and technical service providers. In the context of using digital tools and infrastructure, personal data may in some cases be processed outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are put in place in accordance with applicable data protection law.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the organisation of the competition, the evaluation process, related communication, and follow-up activities, after which data are securely deleted or anonymised unless further retention is required by law.

You have the right to access, correct or request deletion of your personal data, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw your consent where applicable.

If you have concerns about how your data are processed, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit).
