20 Mar d-teach celebrates International Francophonie Day
Every year on 20 March, the International Francophonie Day takes place; a day that is dedicated to the French language worldwide. Here are a few fun facts:
– Did you know that over 270 million people speak French?
– Did you know that, apart from English, French is the only language spoken on all continents?
– Did you know that French is the official language in 29 countries around the world?
– Did you know that French is also one of the official languages of the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, the WEU, the WTO, the OSCE, NAFTA, the Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières, the IOC and many other international organisations?
Also d-teach has many teachers with a passion for French. Teacher Kim explains below why she loves the French language so much:
“Passer sa vie à aimer et à penser, c’est la véritable vie des esprits. “Voltaire 1752
French is a difficult but very rich language, hence Voltaire’s beautiful quote. A wise French writer, philosopher and freethinker (17th – 18th century).
If a soul continues to love and think, only then can it live. If one continues to learn during life, then one really lives. Lifelong learning therefore…you can also do it with d-teach.
Aimer is also a very beautiful word to me. For me it is not even a “work” word, but a simple word, in all its simplicity … continue à aimer…”.
